Description
I saw this beautiful spirited dog on Facebook and fell in love with him. I asked to paint him, and Karla Hott Phillips tells his story:
"Fletcher T Phillips the GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD, MD
"The first picture we have of Fletcher is him peeking out from an old abandoned car. He was taken in by the Middle Tennessee Golden Retriever Rescue (MTGRR) and a young college girl adopted him. She soon realized that a young golden retriever pup needed more time, energy and care, and so returned him to the rescue. Our neighbor became his foster mom, and I helped with him during the day and promptly fell in love with him.
"He came to us named Nemo, which we changed to Fletcher. The day I went to get his tags he was feeling all of his 4 month old exuberance, so I told them to add the T in the middle for trouble, 'cause he was looking for trouble! The grrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddddd is a play off the Third, and MD is 'cause he took his own stitches out when he was neutered and took his cast off when he broke his toe.
"He came with a stuffed duck and has always had one. He also loves tennis balls and lives to swim and carry big sticks, play and be with his people. However, he will also be quiet and just hang out if that is the mood of the day. His special nature draws all people in, even ones who are normally not 'dog' people. He is goofy, loveable and one of our best friends. My father used to describe him as having "hidden mirth."
"He is a personal trainer running/walking about 2 3 miles a day. A faithful companion for guitar playing, photography, paperwork, drawing, great company and so much more!!
"He has had a broken toe, a dislocated toe, two acl/meniscus surgeries and managed them all with a good natured grin and a wonderful personality; and all the vets agree, he is 100% good boy.
"I think he saved me." :-)
