Artist's Description

There was this big storm, and like, the surf was huge! The wedge is famous for dangerous surfing conditions - the waves bounce off the rock jetty and run into each other - and then crash right onto the sand. There were news crews out to get video - everybody watches to see if a surfer wipes out. For canvas prints, I can add textured clear acrylic brushstrokes that make it look like an original work of art. Contact me before you order the print for more information.
But I like the colors of the sun shining through the wave, and its unusual shape with the lone surfer hanging on for dear life. I also like the shadow cast by the wave onto the water below, and the swirling pattern of foam in the foreground.

About Alice Leggett

Alice Leggett

An artist since childhood, I have been fascinated by color, faces and natural forms. Taking every class in art I could find, I enjoyed oil painting in particular, and portraiture became my passion. Painting from life, or photographs if necessary, I love to bring out the personality of a someone "from heart to art." Painting outdoors in nature is exhilarating, a real joy and renewal of the soul. Painting the still life in the quiet solitude of my studio allows me to contemplate carefully the play of light across form, and subtle color relationships. Please contact me if you have a question!
