The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. This little bird is camouflaged against the bark of a tree. The colors and patterns of the tree trunk are so wonderfully echoed in the bird's plumage. I asked nature photographer Syd Phillips if I could paint from his wonderful photo, and he graciously agreed.
About Alice Leggett
An artist since childhood, I have been fascinated by color, faces and natural forms. Taking every class in art I could find, I enjoyed oil painting in particular, and portraiture became my passion. Painting from life, or photographs if necessary, I love to bring out the personality of a someone "from heart to art." Painting outdoors in nature is exhilarating, a real joy and renewal of the soul.
